Through this system, LEED improves occupant well-being, environmental performance and economic return on buildings through use of established and innovative practices, standards, and technologies.

Syntégra uses steel as supported by the American Iron and Steel Institute, the American Institute of Steel Construction, and the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries. These suppliers subscribe to tenets of steel recycling described on the online resource www.recycle-steel.org.

thereby reducing impacts resulting from extraction and processing of virgin materials. Use materials

content constitutes at least 10% or 20%, based on cost, of the total value of the materials
in the project.

 Intended to increase demand for building materials and products that are extracted and manufactured within the region, thereby supporting the use of indigenous resources and reducing the environmental impacts resulting from transportation. Use building materials or products that have been extracted, harvested or recovered, as well as manufactured, within 500 miles of the project site for a minimum of 10% or 20%, based on cost, of the total materials value.

 Intended to reduce the potential presence of mold in schools through preventive design and
construction measures.
